As a lifelong Idaho resident, Sammie Beck has enjoyed a life of outdoors and wide open spaces. Growing up for the first ten years of her life on a remote cattle ranch in Hells Canyon on the rugged Snake River, Sammie’s childhood brought a variety of experience all while learning and grasping the ranching lifestyle that most can only dream of. The cattle ranch was filled with a lesson of hard work and showed her the beauty and mystique of the Salmon and Snake River of Idaho. Her family also owned and operated an outfitting business in Hells Canyon which afforded the opportunity to have a profound appreciation for the scenery and wildlife that Idaho has to offer.
She and her family then moved onward to the Clearwater Valley near Kooskia, ID to continue the lifestyle they cherished. If not working and taking care of chores, many days were spent horseback packing into the backcountry lakes and mountains of the Selway Bitterroot, Gospel Hump, and Frank Church Wilderness.
After graduating high school from Clearwater Valley High, Sammie continued her education at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and then at Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. She has worked in the insurance industry for many years. The last ten have been in crop insurance spending many hours in the fields of the Camas Prairie, Weippe Prairie and the surrounding areas of Whitman County in Washington State.
A resident of Orofino, Idaho since 2008, Sammie and her family enjoy the mountains and nearby lakes and rivers every chance they get. Having all of this in her backyard weekends are spent boating on Dworshak Reservoir, floating down the famous Clearwater River, camping and fishing on the North Fork of the Clearwater or riding Atv’s on the Clearwater National Forest trails. The love of the outdoors runs deep within her heritage. Sammie is looking forward to sharing the lifestyle North Central Idaho has to offer with others for years to come.
